  • Why flags half staff today?

Brief story
The tradition of raising a half-mast flag began in the 17th century. It may sound like a “half-mast,” but it is reserved for use on board.

The president can often issue an executive order to fly the flag half-mast, either after the death of an impressive person or due to a tragic event. If such an order is issued, all government buildings, military bases, schools, and offices must lower the flag to half-mast.

Why do other flags flutter half-mast? Because you can’t put a flag on the American flag. The Governor of the US states and territories can also order the US and state flags to be half-masted if members of the armed forces are killed or killed in active duty.

General Colin Powell Death Proclamation

General Colin Powell was a patriot of unparalleled honor and dignity. Born in New York City, raised in Harlem and South Bronx, and the son of an immigrant who graduated from City University of New York, he was promoted to the highest ranks of the US military and advised four presidents.

He lived it and believed in the American promise. And he devoted much of his life to fulfilling his promises to many others. He embodied the best ideals of both warriors and diplomats. He has led with his personal commitment to democratic values that strengthen our country. He repeatedly broke racial barriers, paved the way for others to follow, and promised to invest in next-generation leadership throughout his life. Colin Powell was a wonderful person I was proud to call my friend, and he will go down in history as one of our great Americans.

Born in New York City, raised in Harlem and South Bronx, and the son of an immigrant who graduated from City University of New York, he was promoted to the top ranks of the US military and advised four presidents. He kept it and believed in America’s promise. And he devoted much of his life to fulfilling his promises to many others.

As a Senator, I worked closely with him when he served as National Security Adviser, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Foreign Minister. Over the years, Colin has always been the one who did his best and treated you with respect, even in conflict with each other.

Colin embodies the best ideals of both warriors and diplomats. Above all, he contributed to the power and security of our country. After fighting in war, he understands better than anyone that military power alone is not enough to sustain our peace and prosperity. Colin has led a personal commitment to democratic values that strengthen our country from a vision of history from the front seats, advice to the President, and the formation of our policies. Over and over again, he presents the country to himself, to the party, to all, evenly and outside, and deserves the universal respect of the Americans.

Colin repeatedly broke racial boundaries and devoted himself to investing in next-generation leadership throughout his life, paving the way for others to follow him to serve the federal government. Through the care of women and men who serve under his command and the diplomats he leads, or through the work he shared with his wife Alma at the American Promise Alliance to cheer up young people, or through the work he shared with his wife Alma, or Colin’s leadership Eisenhower. Throughout his years of maneuvering scholarships always includes a focus on the future.

Colin was especially my friend. Easy to laugh. A best friend you can trust in good times and bad times. He was able to drive his Corvette Stingray like anyone else, that’s what I learned at the racetrack when I was Vice President. And thank you forever for your candidacy for the presidential election and your support for our common struggle for the soul of the country. It is lonely that he will not be able to appeal to his wisdom in the future.

Jill and I send all our love and power to Alma, her children, Linda, Anemary, Michael, her grandchildren, and Powell’s entire family. Our country mourns you.Colin Powell was a nice person. He will be remembered as one of our great Americans.
